The Private Sector and Zero Malaria: Strengthening Workplace-Based Malaria Prevention and Case Management
The private sector plays a vital role in advancing malaria prevention and control, particularly through workplaces that bring together large and diverse populations. By strengthening malaria prevention, early diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and referral systems within workplaces, the private sector can help reduce malaria-related illness, absenteeism, productivity losses, and the broader economic burden of malaria.
Join us for another engaging session in the ALAMIME Alumni Webinar Series as we explore the role of the private sector in accelerating progress towards zero malaria in Uganda. This webinar will examine how workplace-based malaria prevention and case management can be strengthened, while highlighting opportunities for meaningful private-sector engagement in national malaria elimination efforts.
Participants will gain practical insights into approaches for integrating malaria prevention and case management into workplace health programmes, including strategies for improving access to malaria information, prevention tools, timely diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and referral services. The session will also explore the role of employers, private-sector institutions, health professionals, and other stakeholders in creating malaria-responsive workplaces and supporting national malaria elimination priorities.
The webinar will further highlight the importance of partnerships between the private sector and the national malaria programme, demonstrating how coordinated action, workplace policies, employee engagement, and evidence-based interventions can contribute to reducing malaria transmission and its impact on communities and businesses. By strengthening workplace-based malaria interventions, the private sector can become an even stronger partner in Uganda’s journey towards malaria elimination.
