Leaving No One Behind: Legal and Human Rights Approaches to Malaria Elimination in Uganda

Malaria continues to pose a significant public health burden in Uganda, disproportionately affecting vulnerable populations and communities with limited access to essential health services. While substantial progress has been made in malaria prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and control, achieving malaria elimination requires more than biomedical interventions alone. It demands a deliberate focus on equity, inclusion, human rights, and legal frameworks that ensure all individuals can access quality malaria services without discrimination or barriers.

Join us for another insightful session in the ALAMIME Alumni Webinar Series as we explore the critical role of legal and human rights approaches in advancing malaria elimination efforts in Uganda. This webinar will examine how rights-based strategies can strengthen malaria programs, promote equitable access to prevention and treatment services, and ensure that no population is left behind in the journey toward malaria elimination.

Participants will gain valuable insights into the intersection of public health, law, and human rights within malaria control programs. The discussion will highlight the importance of advocacy, policy development, community engagement, accountability mechanisms, and inclusive health programming in addressing inequalities that contribute to malaria burden. The session will also explore practical approaches for integrating human rights principles into malaria interventions, strengthening stakeholder collaboration, and creating enabling environments that support sustainable malaria elimination efforts.

This webinar will be particularly beneficial for malaria program managers, public health professionals, healthcare workers, policymakers, legal practitioners, advocates, researchers, development partners, students, and all stakeholders interested in advancing equitable and people-centered approaches to malaria elimination.
