Malaria Situation in Mbarali District: Trends, Control Interventions and Progress Towards Malaria Elimination

Malaria remains an important public health challenge in many parts of Tanzania, requiring sustained surveillance, effective vector control, timely diagnosis and treatment, and coordinated action at community and health-system levels. Understanding local malaria trends and the effectiveness of control interventions is essential for identifying gaps, strengthening programme implementation, and accelerating progress towards malaria elimination.

Join us for another engaging session in the ALAMIME Alumni Webinar Series as we explore the malaria situation in Mbarali District, Mbeya Region, Tanzania. The webinar will examine malaria trends in the district, key control interventions being implemented, and the progress and experiences that can inform continued efforts towards malaria elimination.

The session will provide practical insights into district-level malaria prevention and control, with particular attention to vector control, surveillance, implementation of malaria interventions, and local responses to changing malaria trends. Participants will have an opportunity to learn from experiences at district and health-facility levels and explore how effective coordination between environmental health teams, health facilities, communities, and other stakeholders can strengthen malaria control.

The webinar will also highlight lessons from Mbarali District that can support improved planning, implementation, monitoring, and adaptation of malaria interventions. By examining what is working, the challenges encountered, and opportunities for improvement, the session will contribute to a deeper understanding of how local malaria programmes can sustain progress and move closer to the goal of malaria elimination.
