Larval Source Management in Songea Municipal Council: An Approach to Malaria Control Through Biolarviciding

Effective malaria control requires integrated and sustainable approaches that target mosquito populations at different stages of their lifecycle. Larval Source Management (LSM), particularly through the use of biolarviciding, has emerged as an important complementary strategy for reducing mosquito breeding and interrupting malaria transmission in endemic communities. By targeting mosquito larvae in breeding habitats, biolarviciding contributes to lowering vector density and strengthening broader malaria prevention and elimination efforts.

Join us for another insightful session in the ALAMIME Alumni Webinar Series as we explore the implementation of larval source management interventions in Songea Municipal Council. This webinar will highlight practical experiences in the application of biolarviciding as part of integrated vector management strategies for malaria control.

Participants will gain valuable insights into identifying and mapping mosquito breeding sites, implementing biolarviciding activities, strengthening community participation, monitoring intervention outcomes, and addressing operational challenges affecting larval source management programs. The session will also share lessons learned and best practices for sustaining effective vector control interventions at community level.

This discussion will be particularly beneficial for malaria control officers, entomologists, public health practitioners, environmental health officers, researchers, policymakers, and development partners working to strengthen integrated malaria prevention and elimination strategies.
