About The Event

Strengthening Malaria Diagnoses and Case Management

Accurate and timely malaria diagnosis is a critical component of effective malaria control and case management. Strengthening diagnostic practices ensures that people with malaria receive appropriate treatment promptly, while helping to reduce missed diagnoses, inappropriate treatment, and the continued transmission of malaria. Strong case management systems are therefore essential for improving patient outcomes and accelerating progress towards malaria elimination.

Join us for another engaging session in the ALAMIME Alumni Webinar Series as we explore approaches to strengthening malaria diagnosis and case management in Sierra Leone. This webinar will provide an opportunity to examine current practices, challenges, and opportunities for improving malaria diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and referral across the health system.

Participants will gain practical insights into strengthening malaria case management, with particular attention to the importance of accurate diagnosis, appropriate treatment, adherence to national guidelines, and effective follow-up of malaria cases. The session will also highlight the role of health workers, surveillance systems, and programme-level coordination in ensuring that malaria cases are identified and managed effectively.

The webinar will further explore how strengthened diagnostic and case management approaches can contribute to improved malaria surveillance and better health outcomes. By linking accurate diagnosis, quality treatment, monitoring, and evidence-based decision-making, malaria programmes can respond more effectively to cases and support broader national malaria elimination efforts.

This session will be particularly valuable for malaria programme managers, healthcare professionals, public health practitioners, surveillance and monitoring teams, researchers, and other stakeholders working to improve malaria control and case management.
