Assessing Healthcare Providers’ Confidence and Use of Malaria Rapid Diagnostic Tests

Accurate and timely diagnosis remains a cornerstone of effective malaria case management and control. Malaria Rapid Diagnostic Tests (mRDTs) have significantly improved access to parasite-based diagnosis, particularly in resource-limited settings, by enabling healthcare providers to make prompt and informed treatment decisions. The confidence of healthcare providers in using and interpreting mRDTs plays a critical role in ensuring adherence to testing guidelines, reducing unnecessary antimalarial use, and improving patient outcomes.

Join us for another engaging session in the ALAMIME Alumni Webinar Series as we examine healthcare providers’ confidence and utilization of Malaria Rapid Diagnostic Tests in strengthening malaria diagnosis and surveillance systems. This webinar will explore the factors influencing the adoption and effective use of mRDTs in clinical practice, as well as the implications for malaria control and elimination efforts.

Participants will gain valuable insights into healthcare workers’ perceptions and experiences with mRDTs, including challenges related to test availability, interpretation of results, clinical decision-making, and compliance with national malaria treatment guidelines. The session will also highlight strategies for improving provider confidence through training, supportive supervision, quality assurance, and continuous monitoring and evaluation.

The discussion will be particularly beneficial for malaria program managers, healthcare providers, surveillance officers, monitoring and evaluation specialists, public health practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and development partners committed to improving malaria diagnosis and strengthening health systems.
