The Clean Vector: Why Mosquitoes Remain, but Malaria Leaves in the World’s Malaria-Free Nations
Join us for another engaging session in the ALAMIME Alumni Webinar Series as we explore a compelling question in global malaria elimination: How do countries eliminate malaria while mosquitoes remain present?
This webinar will examine the concept of the “clean vector” and unpack the strategies, systems, and sustained interventions that enable countries to interrupt malaria transmission without eradicating mosquito populations. The session will highlight lessons from malaria-free nations, including the role of strong surveillance systems, prompt diagnosis and treatment, effective vector control, health system strengthening, and sustained political commitment.
Participants will gain practical insights into how integrated malaria control strategies can transition countries from control to elimination, and how endemic settings can adapt these lessons to accelerate progress toward a malaria-free future.
