About The Program
The Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH) in Uganda with funding from the Gates Foundation, in collaboration with ten schools of Public Health in eight other high burden Malaria countries (Tanzania, Nigeria, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Niger, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone, Togo and Benin) is implementing the African Leadership and Management training for impact in Malaria Eradication (ALAMIME) programme. The programme is soliciting applications for the Training of trainers.
The aim of the training of trainers (ToT) training is to strengthen the training capacities and skills in leadership and decision-making of local facilitators of the ALAMIME course in the malaria eradication program. This is intended to adequately prepare the team of local facilitators at each university to ensure the continuity or sustainability of the current ALAMIME training in leadership and management for the malaria eradication program at the end of the actual project.
Programme Structure
The training will cover 80 hours delivered in two 40-hour modules, organized over a period of two weeks, with an online module and a face-to-face module. The course will focus on in-depth related
concepts in leadership, and on evidence-based decision-making tools to better equip the ToT team and, subsequently, future participants who are managers in the health sector, to apply effectively high-level leadership, all along their careers. The training will take place at the Schools of Public Health of the ALAMIME consortium Universities in the respective countries to strengthen capacities of health sector managers and faculty facilitators in each country with a set of leadership skills to enable them to make informed decisions in the management of health programs, beyond the malaria control program. In addition, upon completing the modules, each participant will conduct a training at their workplace and submit a corresponding report.
Successful participants will be awarded by the ALAMIME consortium a Certificate of Recognition as a Trainer in Leadership, Management and Governance for Malaria
Eradication.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants for the training of trainers training should be;
- Â Active alumni in the alumni activities working in a malaria control/elimination program at National or Sub-National (local government)
level, - Active alumni already involved in facilitation of modules and mentorship as either
academic or field mentors, - Local faculty facilitators already involved in the ALAMIME training programme and have contributed to supervise participants.
- Have a recommendation
from the Hub director or country coordinator of the ALAMIME Programme in the nine consortium member countries (Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Togo and Benin).
Funding for the Training
Participants will not be required to pay any fees, as the training tuition is fully sponsored by the
Gates Foundation.
