About ALAMIME

The African Leadership and Management Training for Impact In Malaria Eradication (ALAMIME) is a project under Makerere School of Public Health (MakSPH), Department of Health Policy, Planning and Management whose goal is to increase governance, leadership and management competencies among people working in malaria programs leading to increased use of evidence from malaria program data at national and sub-national level. The ALAMIME project is being implemented in 9 countries namely: Uganda, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Nigeria, Togo, Sierra Leone, Benin, Burkina Faso and Niger.

What we Do

ALAMIME is a capacity building project. Participants go through an equivalent of four weeks of training and conduct a practicum. The four weeks would have equipped them with skills in leadership and management, the science and art of malaria and data use for evidence. Ultimately, they would be able to continue to participate in malaria eradication efforts in their countries.

Partnership

Our partners in ALAMIME are from both Anglophone and Francophone countries. From the Anglophone countries are Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (Tanzania) and University of Ibadan (Nigeria)Ahmadu Bello University (Zaria, Nigeria),University of Nigeria (Nsukka, Nigeria) and University of Sierra Leone .

The Francophone include University of Kinshasha – School of Public Health (DRC), University of Joseph Ki Zerbo (Burkina Faso),Université de Lomé (Togo),Institut Régional de Santé Publique IRSP (Benin) and Abdou Moumouni University (Niger). In each country, we work with Ministry of Health. These are involved in designing the program, implementing the program through participating in training and supporting the practicum and also evaluating the program both at student level in terms of acquisition of competencies and at program level in terms of country level use of data and improvement in malaria elimination indicators.
